As part of NIGP's ongoing commitment to ensuring our certification program remains current and aligned with evolving industry standards, the NIGP-CPP Certification Program is updating our certification Exam Modules.
The final opportunity for candidates to test on Modules A and B will be November 2026. Modules A and B assess 43 technical competencies, and the 2024 Updated Job Task Analysis (JTA) informed us that there have been changes to the procurement profession. As a result, new Exam Modules C and D have been developed to assess the 54 technical competencies that resulted from the Updated JTA. New Modules C and D will be available for testing in February 2026.
We will also now have two candidate groups testing through November 2026.
- First group – All candidates approved on or before September 30, 2025.
- These candidates must successfully complete Exam Modules A and B by their application expiration dates or November 2026 – whichever comes first.
- Second group – All candidates who apply and are approved on or after October 1, 2025
- These candidates must successfully complete the new Exam Modules C and D within their two-year application window.
NIGP and the NIGP-CPP certification program are committed to ensuring all current NIGP-CPPs are up-to-date and informed about all technical competencies, skills, and behaviors required of a procurement leader on the job in today’s world. Because you earned your NIGP-CPP by passing Exam Modules A/B, you will be required to complete a free, online, on-demand “New Competencies Course” through NIGP.
You will be automatically registered for this course as soon as it becomes available in early November.
Completing the free course will be easy online. There will not be an assessment to complete after finishing the free, online, on-demand course. To reiterate, this is FREE new content to ensure you’re up to date on the profession. Finally, this course is only available to current NIGP-CPPs!
The free, online, on-demand course will be required for all current NIGP-CPPs as they recertify on or after December 1, 2025. This means each NIGP-CPP will have time to complete the online course before the upcoming three-year expiration date!
For those who are expiring on or before November 30, 2025, you will wait and complete this free, new online course as a part of your next certification cycle. We wanted to be sure to give everyone plenty of time to complete the free, online course.
It's expected that the course will be available in early November. We’ll send out more information as soon as the course is ready.
